1890s Era Patterns



The 1890s saw a major shift in fashion, moving away from the bustle dress and towards more free-flowing garments to include waists and walking skirts and walking suits. At the same time, we an emphasis on narrow waists and very large sleeves, culminating in the "leg-of-mutton" sleeve during the mid-1890s. During this era, we also begin to see the development clothing for various forms of physical activity which what would later become sportswear.
